The Application

By the help of God, I have thus vindicated the good ways of the Lord from the frivolous objections and reproaches of unreasonable people. I have proved to you in the two previous discourses that the most precise Christians are the wisest people and that godliness, which is cried down for folly and fantasy, is undoubtedly and indispensably necessary for salvation. I will now take you by the hand and lead as many of you who are willing to follow me to the practice of godliness. In this undertaking, I will apply myself first to the ungodly, then to the godly.214
