America Needs a Miracle

Obama,
Biden, and other enemies have inflicted great harm on these United
States. President Trump has managed to do much good, but continues to
face effective opposition from the Democratic
Communist Party, and his own record is less than stellar, especially
by continued deficit spending, the largest cause of monetary
inflation. Moreover, the next occupant of the Oval Office could
quickly undo much of what President Trump has accomplished.
Many hope the next president will continue what Trump has begun to accomplish. But is this reasonable? Since Hoover succeeded Coolidge in 1929, except when Bush succeeded Reagan, the presidency has alternated between Democrats and Republicans at every election. Trump is in office because of the electoral votes of just three states he won by about 2% of each state’s popular vote and Trump’s coattails are way shorter than Reagan’s. The reasonable expectation is that we will very soon have a Communist president, especially as inflation and the insolvency of Social Security and Medicare threaten voter’s already declining standard of living. The most exquisitely sensitive part of the human anatomy is the wallet. And the Commies are patient; they will persist until America is a Marxist hellhole.
We must resolutely face the facts: only a miracle can save America from the impending Communist future. What would such a miracle look like? Founding Father John Adams wrote: "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other" (October 11, 1798). "Statesmen, my dear sir, may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone, which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand” (June 21, 1776). To the Founding Fathers, religion meant Christianity, the foundation upon which our Republic was built.
Because we have largely rejected “… the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 4:131), we have become, “… children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes” (Ephesians 4:14). This biblical truth about cause and effect explains America’s disunity and infection by DEI, LGBTQBARF, Feminism, Marxism, Socialism and so on. To reunite us and Make America Great Again, we must Make America Godly Again.
What are some examples of the moral and religious changes we must make to uphold our Constitution and liberty?
Voters who “… look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others” (Philippians 2:4), not accepting bribes by politicians who promise them unearned “benefits.”
Civil officials who live by: “You shall not pervert justice. You shall not show partiality, and you shall not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of the righteous” (Deuteronomy 16:19). If bribes blind the wise, what about donkeys?
Voters who learn enough to elect men of integrity and ability. “If one gives an answer before he hears, it is his folly and shame” (Proverbs 18:13).
God said, “You shall not steal.” (Exodus 20:15) Did you notice the period? The Commandment does not end with “, unless you are the government, stealing from productive citizens to give to the poor.” “… You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor” (Leviticus 19:15).
“You shall not steal; you shall not deal falsely; you shall not lie to one another” (Leviticus 19:11). Any politician who lies or makes false promises must be defenestrated at hypersonic speed. Voters must be able to make informed decisions before and after elections.
Citizens must reject abortion, Feminism, fornication, DEI, and so on in favor of traditional marriage and families. Parents must educate their children in both Christian truth and about our world. “Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous” (Hebrews 13:4). “Come, O children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord” (Psalm 34:11).
God has blessed America with a good Constitution. We must cease disobeying it and interpret it according to the intent of the Founding Fathers. This especially includes the ninth and tenth Amendments. Nonetheless, a few amendments could help strengthen it, our liberty, and our Republic, for example:
Formally acknowledge that “We the People” are under the sovereign authority of King Jesus Christ and pledge to honor and obey Him in all our affairs, public and private.
Repeal the sixteenth and seventeenth Amendments, and limit the scope of the interstate commerce clause.
Governments must balance budgets except due to Constitutionally lawful war and, in peace time, build up a strategic war chest.
The Supreme Court shall have nine justices.
Outlaw the Federal Reserve. Only gold and silver must be legal tender and only free markets must determine their value. We must have the right to freely buy, sell, or barter with gold, silver, or anything we wish.
Taxes must be for revenue only, not discriminatory or enforcing social policy.
The Bill of Rights must be expanded to correct current tyranny; God owns us, not any government. “Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand” (Romans 14:4 ESV). Examples include: right to life from conception to natural death; freedom of occupation and association, including in employment and commerce; freedom from laws to protect individuals from themselves (such as mandatory safety devices or controls on drugs); and so on.
Now, the reader may well say, “Yeah, right. You think you will get all those leftists, commies, and crazies—roughly half the voting population—to agree to all that?” “But he [Jesus] said, “What is impossible with man is possible with God” (Luke 18:27).
Bluntness is necessary here. America’s ills are largely the result of disobeying God’s commands revealed in the Holy Bible. Many are the “natural” consequences of our disobedience. Others are the wrath and judgment of God directly upon us. And do we expect miracles from God while we disdain Him? Make no mistake: only a miracle can change leftists, commies, and crazies into moral and religious people. For that matter, only a miracle can change all of us who are normal outwardly decent citizens—who live for ourselves instead of God’s glory—into moral and religious people. Moreover, people not only must be moral and religious to successfully live under our Constitution, but also to spend eternity in Heaven, not Hell. What good is a few decades of comfortable and prosperous life in America, only to endure eternity in the fires of Hell?
But we have a problem. Even if we desire to be moral and religious, as God said about each one of us: “… None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one” (Romans 3:10–12). “… the intention of man’s heart is evil from his youth” (Genesis 8:21). Worse than our outward behavior, we have wicked, rebellious hearts set against God and we are powerless to change our wicked hearts into moral and religious hearts.
“But he [Jesus] said, “What is impossible with man is possible with God” (Luke 18:27). In John 3, Jesus opened the conversation with Nicodemus by telling him that he could not see the kingdom of God (Heaven) unless he was “born again / born from above.” (The Greek can carry either meaning and both are simultaneously meant here.) Jesus explained that this new birth is a miracle of the Holy Spirit, who is God. God can do what mankind cannot. The Lord Jesus explained, “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up [on the Cross], that whoever believes in him may have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil” (John 3:14–19). Please do not miss the central thought: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). If you believe in, have faith in, the Lord Jesus (who is God) you go to Heaven, not Hell. It is this faith alone that saves from hellfire and makes people truly, though imperfectly, moral and religious in this life, both outwardly and in their inner hearts. Only the miraculous new birth into Christ by faith in Him alone can Make Americans Godly Again.
Let us summarize the whole matter so far:
America is under the wrath and judgment of God, both as natural consequences of our disobedience, and God’s displeasure at our disobedience.
Worse, nearly all Americans are heedlessly headed for Hell.
But God, in His rich mercy, has provided that all who put their faith in Jesus Christ alone will be saved from Hell, adopted as God’s children bound for Heaven, and enabled to live truly moral and religious lives from the heart. Also, in this life, America will become a still better place for ourselves and our children to live and work and serve the Lord Jesus.
So now what? First off, before worrying about “them,” let us get the dimensional lumber out of our own eyes. For this purpose, the author highly recommends to old, new, and prospective believers in Christ, The Sum of Saving Knowledge, by David Dickson and James Durham, two seventeenth century Scottish pastors; this small book is a thoroughly excellent introduction to, and refresher course in, true biblical Christianity; it has greatly benefited many for centuries.
Second, if you are among those who refuse to believe in the Lord Jesus, know that your destination is eternity in the fires of Hell and in this life you are bringing the wrath and judgment of Almighty God on yourself, your family, and America. And that is quite unpatriotic.
But if you do believe in the Lord Jesus, then seek to win others to faith in Jesus Christ. “And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever” (Daniel 12:3). Also, get involved, working for good and for reformation of that which is evil in our land. Most of all, pray. Pray daily for personal holiness, forgiveness of your sins, and that God will pour out the Holy Spirit on America to make many or all of us born again believers in Jesus Christ. Most of all, Pray. Perhaps God will turn away His wrath and by the miraculous power of the Holy Spirit in American hearts, Make America Godly Again and thus Make America Great Again. “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people” (Proverbs 14:34).
